On the Koningin Emmaboulevard, which was awarded the environmental architecture price in 2000, you can enjoy a dynamic view. Each year about 70.000 sea-going vessels sail by Hoek van Holland. In addition ten thousant of inland waterway vessels and recreation craft ranging from sail ships, small freighters to super tankers and even platforms. The atmosphere on the boulevard is, among others, determined by the special works of art and the lighthouse ‘Het hooghe licht’. A visit to the boulevard can perfectly be combined with getting some fresh air on the North Pier, which stretches 4.5 kilometres into the sea and is partially open to walkers and fishermen.
